Maya N Williams, CEO and Founder

Maya Navarro Williams is the Founder and CEO of Mid-American Language Services (MALS), a multilingual legal and medical language-access firm redefining how underserved communities navigate complex U.S. systems. What began as a single-woman operation rooted in interpretation and notary work has evolved into a regional powerhouse delivering comprehensive language access, workers’ compensation support, and administrative solutions across industries.
From an early age, Maya understood the power—and consequences—of language. Raised in environments where language barriers directly impacted access to healthcare, legal rights, and economic opportunity, she developed a deep awareness that communication is not a luxury—it is infrastructure. This lived experience planted the seeds of her entrepreneurial drive long before she ever founded a company.
Her education and professional training sharpened her ability to operate at the intersection of language, systems, and service delivery. Rather than viewing interpretation as transactional, she recognized it as a strategic function embedded in outcomes, compliance, and human dignity.
Maya began her career as a Spanish legal and medical interpreter and public notary, working directly with courts, healthcare providers, and individuals navigating high-stakes situations. Early on, she encountered a recurring problem: interpretation alone was never enough. Clients needed help understanding processes, completing documentation, coordinating appointments, and accessing follow-up services—especially in workers’ compensation and medical settings.
The pivotal moment came when she realized that underserved communities weren’t failing systems—systems were failing them. That insight transformed her work from a service into a mission and led to the creation of Mid-American Language Services.
Under Maya’s leadership, MALS has grown into a trusted language-access partner serving legal, medical, workers’ compensation, and corporate clients. The firm now coordinates professional interpreters across hundreds of languages, supports complex workers’ compensation cases, and delivers administrative and documentation assistance that goes far beyond traditional notary or translation services.
MALS functions as a portal to multicultural connection—bridging language gaps while also addressing operational friction for institutions and real-world barriers for individuals. This integrated model has positioned the company as both a compliance ally and a community advocate.
Maya leads with clarity, accountability, and empathy. Her leadership style blends high standards with human understanding, emphasizing professionalism, cultural competence, and continuous improvement. She believes strong systems empower people—and she builds teams that are trained, supported, and trusted to operate at that level.
She is widely respected for her ability to translate complexity into action, aligning interpreters, administrators, and enterprise clients around shared outcomes.
Community impact is embedded into MALS’ operating model. The company prioritizes access for underserved populations, invests in interpreter education and well-being, and actively supports professionals working in emotionally demanding environments. Maya has launched initiatives focused on interpreter wellness, client education, and multilingual access awareness—ensuring that service quality and human sustainability grow together.
Like many founders, Maya’s journey has included significant challenges: scaling without losing integrity, navigating high-liability environments, and building infrastructure while actively serving clients. Her resilience is grounded in adaptability and disciplined execution. Each obstacle has strengthened her conviction that ethical, people-centered businesses can scale without compromise.
Maya’s vision is bold and forward-looking. She is building MALS into a nationally recognized language-access and administrative services firm—leveraging technology, AI-assisted workflows, and strategic partnerships to expand reach while maintaining quality. Her long-term goal is to reshape how institutions think about language access: not as an add-on, but as a strategic necessity.
As a mother, entrepreneur, and community leader, Maya brings a values-driven approach to business. Her decisions are informed by integrity, faith, responsibility, and a commitment to generational impact. She believes success is measured not only by revenue, but by the systems improved and lives made easier through thoughtful design.
Maya actively mentors interpreters, entrepreneurs, and young professionals, encouraging them to think beyond job titles and into ownership, leadership, and long-term vision. Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple but demanding: build something that solves real problems, honor the people you serve, and never underestimate the power of structure paired with compassion.
Her legacy is not just a company—but a model for how language, leadership, and service can come together to create lasting, scalable impact.
